Dhofar University Students Excel in International Professional Training (DU- IAESTE Oman)

The Vice-Chancellor of Dhofar University, Professor Amer Al Rawas, recently met with students who had participated in professional training abroad. The outstanding students are Kathir Ghawas, Hamdan Yaaqob Al-Kuwaili, and Abdullah Abdul Rahman. Professor Amer emphasized that these students have represented both Oman and Dhofar University on a global stage. Professor Amer expressed his immense pride in their achievements.

Hamdan Yaaqob Al-Kuwaili underwent training in Chemical Engineering (nanocomposites) at Manipal Institute of Technology in India, an institution ranked among the top 45 engineering colleges by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). Despite the training lasting for eight weeks, Hamdan acquired invaluable professional experience. He credited the Dhofar University-IAESTE program for this rare opportunity which allowed him to also interact and work with students from various countries.

Kathir Ghawas and Abdullah Abdul Rahman refined their skills in Turkey. Kathir spent his 8-week training in Istanbul. His training required him to participate in the design of electrical installation system. Abdullah underwent his training in Ankara at an engineering company that develops innovative products in the fields of LED technologies. Both Kathir and Abdullah resonated with Hamdan’s sentiments about the unparalleled enrichment IAESTE training brings.

This year, Dhofar University proudly welcomed three international students from Turkey, Turkmenistan, and India. They gained invaluable experience at Omantel and OQ. Their time with Salalah’s leading companies left a lasting impression. Enhancing their experience in Oman, Mr. Hitham, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Office (ICO), introduced them to Salalah’s cultural highlights through field trips. The collaboration for the IAESTE training was facilitated through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that DU had previously signed with both Omantel and OQ.

Dhofar University takes pride in its affiliation with IAESTE Oman. The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) actively promotes student interests, supports employers, and collaborates with academic institutions in over 80 countries. Dhofar University remains committed to strengthening its ties with IAESTE Oman, ensuring more students gain the invaluable experience of working abroad.

In light of these successes, the International Cooperation Office (ICO) is hosting an IAESTE Open Day. All third-year students are cordially invited to learn more about the experiences of their peers who trained abroad and to seek answers to any questions they may have about IAESTE opportunities abroad.
